About the Audi R8 GT 42
The R8 GT is a hardcore, limited-run variant of the first-generation R8, designed to bridge the gap between the road car and the R8 LMS racer. Audi engineers shed 100kg through the extensive use of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic for the sideblades, rear wing, and bumpers, alongside thinner glass and polycarbonate windows. The 5.2-litre V10 was tuned to produce 560 PS, paired exclusively with the R tronic automated manual gearbox. With only 333 units produced globally, it remains one of the most collectible and visceral iterations of the 'Type 42' R8, distinguished by its fixed rear wing and aggressive aero package.
