About the Audi A3 8Y
The fourth-generation Audi A3 (8Y) represents a significant digital leap for the premium compact segment, moving to the MQB Evo platform shared with the Golf Mk8. The 35 TFSI trim features a 1.5-litre engine with cylinder-on-demand technology and, in S tronic guise, a 48V mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and low-end response. The S line trim adds a more aggressive body kit, 18-inch wheels, and lowered sports suspension for a firmer, more composed ride. Inside, the cabin is defined by the 'Virtual Cockpit' and a driver-focused dashboard that replaces most physical switchgear with touch-sensitive controls.

Audi A3 8Y fun facts
- The 35 TFSI engine uses a Miller combustion cycle and variable turbine geometry (VTG) to maximise efficiency, tech usually reserved for high-performance Porsche engines.
- The 8Y generation was the first A3 to be designed entirely digitally, with no physical clay models used during the development of its interior.
- In S tronic models, the 48V mild-hybrid system can recover up to 12kW of power during deceleration and allows the car to coast with the engine off at speeds between 25 and 99 mph.
