About the Wolseley 4/44

The Wolseley 4/44 was the final design from Gerald Palmer for the Nuffield Organisation before its merger into BMC. It shared its monocoque body and elegant styling with the MG Magnette ZA but utilised the older 1,250cc XPAW engine, a single-carburettor version of the unit found in the MG TF. Positioned as a middle-class luxury saloon, it featured a traditional walnut dashboard, leather upholstery, and the signature illuminated radiator badge. While not fast, it was praised for its rack-and-pinion steering and comfortable independent front suspension, offering a more refined experience than its Morris contemporaries.
