About the Wolseley 6/90
The Wolseley 6/90 was the flagship of the Wolseley range, sharing its basic body shell and 2.6-litre C-Series engine with the Riley Pathfinder. Designed by Gerald Palmer, it featured a traditional Wolseley radiator grille and a more conservative interior than its Riley sibling, complete with walnut veneers. The Series I and II models were noted for their sophisticated but complex rear suspension, which was later simplified for the Series III. Its combination of a 96 mph top speed and dignified presence made it the preferred choice for British police forces as a high-speed motorway patrol car throughout the late 1950s.
