About the Volkswagen Transporter T4

The T4 generation marked a revolution for the Volkswagen Transporter, moving the engine to the front and adopting water-cooling and front-wheel drive. The 2.5 TDI five-cylinder engine is widely considered the most desirable powerplant for its balance of reliability, torque, and fuel efficiency. It became a cult favourite for camper conversions due to its robust build quality and vast interior space. Today, well-maintained T4s, especially in Caravelle or Westfalia trim, have seen a significant rise in collector and enthusiast value.
