About the Volkswagen Golf GTI Harlequin Mk3
The Golf Harlequin is one of Volkswagen's most eccentric creations, originally conceived to showcase the modular 'Baukastensystem' parts interchangeability. Based on the North American Mk3 Golf GL, each car was built in a single solid colour before factory workers at the Puebla plant manually swapped panels to ensure no two adjacent panels matched. Four base colours were used: Tornado Red, Ginster Yellow, Pistachio Green, and Chagall Blue. Though initially a slow seller that some dealers even repainted to move stock, it has since become a highly coveted collector's item due to its rarity and unmistakable 1990s aesthetic.
