About the Toyota Land Cruiser J250

The J250 generation marks the Land Cruiser's return to its rugged, utilitarian roots, moving away from the luxury-focused trajectory of the previous 200 Series. Built on the TNGA-F ladder-frame platform shared with the Lexus GX and Land Cruiser 300, it features a significantly stiffer chassis and, for the first time, electric power steering. In the UK and Europe, it is powered by a proven 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine, while the US receives a 326 hp i-FORCE MAX hybrid. It remains a formidable off-roader, equipped with permanent four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, and a new disconnecting front anti-roll bar for improved articulation.

Toyota Land Cruiser J250 fun facts

  • The J250 is available with two distinct front-end designs: round LED headlights on the '1958' and 'First Edition' trims, or rectangular units on the standard 'Land Cruiser' grade.
  • The First Edition trim was limited to just 3,000 units in Europe and 5,000 units in North America to celebrate the model's launch.
  • Despite its modern tech, the interior retains physical buttons and dials for all major off-road and climate functions, designed to be operated even while wearing gloves.
