About the Suzuki Alto Mk2
The second-generation Suzuki Alto, known internally as the CA71/SB308, was a masterclass in minimalist automotive engineering. While the Japanese market focused on 550cc Kei regulations, the export 0.8-litre version utilised the robust F8B three-cylinder engine to provide reliable, low-cost transport globally. Its lightweight construction, weighing just over 600kg, allowed for surprising agility despite its modest power output. This generation is historically significant for spawning the Maruti 800 in India and the Suzuki Mehran in Pakistan, cars that remained in production for decades and defined motoring for millions.
