About the Renault 11
Launched in 1983 as the hatchback counterpart to the Renault 9 saloon, the Renault 11 was a cornerstone of the brand's 1980s line-up. Styled by Robert Opron, it featured a distinctive 'bubble' rear window and a modern, aerodynamic silhouette that helped it secure the European Car of the Year award alongside its sibling. The GTL trim was a popular mid-range choice, offering a balance of economy and comfort with the reliable 1.4-litre 'Cléon-Fonte' engine. While once ubiquitous on European roads, surviving examples are now increasingly rare, valued by collectors for their period-correct French charm and surprisingly supple ride quality.
