About the Subaru Legacy BL
The fourth-generation 'BL' Subaru Legacy represented a significant move upmarket, featuring a sleeker design and a more premium interior than its predecessors. The 2.0R trim introduced the EJ204 engine, a naturally aspirated DOHC unit that replaced the older SOHC engines, offering a more spirited, high-revving character. It retains Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, providing excellent grip and balance that few contemporary rivals could match. While not as fast as the turbocharged GT models, the 2.0R is praised for its sharp handling, mechanical purity, and understated aesthetic.
