About the Citroën C5 Mk2
The second-generation Citroën C5 (X7) marked a significant departure for the brand, trading the quirky liftback styling of its predecessor for a more conventional and premium three-box saloon silhouette. Aimed squarely at German rivals like the Volkswagen Passat, it featured a high-quality interior and improved sound insulation. While lower trims used conventional steel springs, higher-spec models retained Citroën's signature Hydractive 3+ hydropneumatic suspension, offering a ride quality that remains class-leading for its era. The 2.0 HDi 160 engine, introduced in 2010 to meet Euro 5 standards, provided a strong balance of motorway cruising torque and fuel efficiency.
