About the SsangYong Rodius
The second-generation SsangYong Rodius (marketed as the Turismo in the UK) arrived in 2013, significantly toning down the controversial styling of its predecessor while retaining its massive footprint. In 2016, it received a major mechanical upgrade with the 2.2-litre e-XDi diesel engine, replacing the older 2.0-litre unit to meet Euro 6 emissions standards. Built on a platform derived from older Mercedes-Benz technology, it features a multi-link rear suspension that provides a surprisingly compliant ride for its size. While it lacks the refinement of premium European rivals, its ability to carry seven adults and their luggage simultaneously remains almost unique in the MPV segment.

SsangYong Rodius fun facts
- The name Rodius is a portmanteau of 'Road' and 'Zeus', intended to mean 'Lord of the Road'.
- Despite its van-like dimensions, the Rodius uses a car-like chassis with a longitudinal engine layout, a rarity in the modern MPV market.
- In the UK, this model was rebranded as the Turismo to distance it from the first generation's reputation for being one of the world's ugliest cars.
