About the SsangYong Rexton Y450
The Y450-generation Rexton represents a significant facelift for SsangYong's flagship SUV, introducing a more imposing chrome grille and a refined interior to compete with mainstream rivals. Unlike most modern SUVs that use car-like monocoque structures, the Rexton retains a traditional body-on-frame ladder chassis, making it exceptionally durable for off-road use and heavy-duty towing. The 2.2-litre e-XDi diesel engine was updated for this generation to produce 202 PS, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai. It remains a niche choice for those prioritising a 3,500kg towing capacity and value-for-money over badge prestige.
