About the Smart City-Coupe
The Smart City-Coupe, later renamed the Fortwo, was a revolutionary joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Swatch. Designed specifically for congested European cities, its 2.5-metre length allowed for unique 'nose-in' parking. The 2004 Pulse trim features the updated 698cc engine, which provided a necessary boost in refinement and reliability over the earlier 599cc units. While the automated manual gearbox is notoriously slow, the car's rear-engine layout and tiny footprint make it an agile, if quirky, urban tool with a surprisingly spacious cabin for two.
