About the Hyundai Amica
The Hyundai Amica, known elsewhere as the Atos Prime, was a restyled version of the original 'egg-box' Atoz, featuring a lower roofline and more conventional styling to appeal to European tastes. Despite its diminutive footprint, the 'tall-boy' design provided generous headroom and a commanding driving position, making it a favourite for urban commuting and elderly drivers. The 1.1-litre Epsilon engine, introduced to replace the original 1.0-litre unit, offered a modest but useful power increase for keeping up with modern traffic. While it lacks refinement and suffers from significant body roll in corners, its simplicity, reliability, and ease of parking remain its primary strengths.

Hyundai Amica fun facts
- The Amica was voted one of the UK's most comfortable cars in a report by a leading ergonomist for What Car? magazine due to its seating position.
- It was briefly discontinued in the UK in 2003 but was resurrected in 2006 due to popular demand after its intended successor, the Getz, failed to satisfy all Amica loyalists.
- The car is so narrow (under 1.5 metres) that it can fit into parking spaces that most modern superminis would find impossible.
