About the Rover 25
Launched in 1999 as a facelift of the 200 Series (R3), the Rover 25 was repositioned to compete with superminis like the Ford Fiesta while retaining a more upmarket image. The 1.4-litre K-Series engine was the most popular choice, offering class-leading power for its size and a rev-happy character. While the chassis provided a comfortable ride and decent handling, the model suffered from the aging architecture of its predecessor and Rover's financial instability. Today, it is remembered as one of the final mainstream products of the MG Rover Group before its 2005 collapse.
