About the Rolls-Royce Phantom V
The Phantom V was the definitive state limousine of the 1960s, succeeding the ultra-exclusive Phantom IV and bringing the new all-alloy V8 engine to the flagship range. Built on a massive 144-inch wheelbase, the chassis was delivered to elite coachbuilders like Mulliner Park Ward and James Young to be finished in bespoke configurations. It was the preferred transport for Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, and famously, John Lennon, who had his example painted in psychedelic Romany patterns. Despite its three-ton weight, the V8 provided smooth, silent progress, ensuring the 'Magic Carpet Ride' remained the industry benchmark.
