About the Ferrari 342 America
The 342 America was Ferrari's first true attempt at a dedicated grand tourer for the road, moving away from the brand's racing-derived roots. It featured a detuned version of Aurelio Lampredi's 'long-block' V12 engine, providing smoother power delivery suited for long-distance travel. Only six examples were ever produced, featuring bespoke coachwork by Vignale and Pinin Farina, including three coupés and three cabriolets. As a precursor to the 375 America, it remains one of the rarest and most significant early Ferraris, representing the dawn of the luxury GT era for the marque.
