About the Renault Twingo Mk3
The third-generation Renault Twingo represented a radical departure from its predecessors, adopting a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout shared with the Smart Forfour. This architecture allowed for a remarkably short front overhang and a class-leading turning circle of just 8.6 metres, making it exceptionally agile in urban environments. The 1.0-litre SCe engine is a naturally aspirated three-cylinder unit designed for economy rather than outright pace. While it lacks the punch of the turbocharged TCe variants, the SCe Dynamique offers a characterful thrum and low running costs, though its highway performance is limited by a modest torque output.

Renault Twingo Mk3 fun facts
- The Mk3 Twingo's rear-engine layout allows the front wheels to turn at an angle of 45 degrees, giving it a tighter turning circle than a London taxi.
- Because the engine is located under the boot floor, Renault engineers had to include a 'Crosswind Assist' system to help keep the lightweight car stable at high speeds.
- The front 'bonnet' does not open like a traditional car; it slides forward a few inches to allow owners to top up fluids like washer fluid and coolant.
