About the Renault Scenic Mk1
Originally launched as the Mégane Scénic, this vehicle effectively created the compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment in Europe. It utilised the chassis and engines of the Mégane hatchback but featured a high roofline and a flexible interior with five individual removable seats. The 1999 facelift, known as Phase 2, officially dropped the 'Mégane' branding and introduced the 16-valve 1.6-litre engine found in this RXE trim. Its success forced every major European competitor to develop their own compact people carriers.
