About the Mitsubishi Freeca
Launched in 1997, the Mitsubishi Freeca was a purpose-built 'Asian Utility Vehicle' (AUV) designed to offer rugged durability and high passenger capacity for developing markets. Built on a body-on-frame chassis shared with the L200 pickup, it prioritised mechanical simplicity and load-carrying ability over refinement. Known as the Adventure in the Philippines and the Kuda in Indonesia, it became a ubiquitous sight as both a family MPV and a commercial workhorse. The 2.0-litre petrol variant utilised the venerable 4G63 engine, providing reliable if unhurried performance suited to the region's challenging road conditions.
