About the Renault Grand Scenic Mk3
The third-generation Renault Grand Scenic, specifically the 1.6 dCi variant introduced in 2011, represented a significant leap in efficiency for the compact MPV segment. Replacing the older 1.9 dCi, this 'Energy' engine utilised technologies derived from Renault's Formula 1 expertise, such as stop-start and regenerative braking, to achieve impressive fuel economy without sacrificing torque. As a seven-seater, it offered a highly flexible interior with individual sliding seats and a digital dashboard that was futuristic for its time. While not a driver's car, its refinement and low running costs made it a staple of European family life before the SUV takeover.
