About the Renault Fuego

The Renault Fuego was a front-wheel-drive coupé designed by Robert Opron, intended to replace the Renault 15 and 17. The 2.0 GTX served as the flagship naturally aspirated model, featuring a 'Douvrin' engine and a drag coefficient of just 0.32, which was class-leading at the time. While it shared a chassis with the Renault 18, the Fuego was notable for its innovative features and distinctive wraparound rear glass. Today, it is a rare sight on European roads, gaining appreciation for its quirky 1980s aesthetic and historical role as a technology pioneer.
