About the Renault Clio RS Mk4
The fourth-generation Clio RS marked a radical departure for Renault Sport, replacing the high-revving naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine and manual gearbox of its predecessors with a 1.6-litre turbo and a dual-clutch transmission. While it lost some of the raw, mechanical edge of the Mk3, it gained significant mid-range torque and everyday usability. The chassis features innovative hydraulic compression stops—a technology derived from rallying—to improve ride quality and body control over rough surfaces. Despite initial criticism from purists regarding the EDC gearbox, it remains a fast and capable hot hatch that brought modern technology like launch control to the supermini segment.
