About the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk5
The Mk5 Golf GTI is widely credited with reviving the GTI legend after the underwhelming Mk3 and Mk4 generations. It introduced the EA113 turbocharged FSI engine and the option of a quick-shifting DSG dual-clutch transmission, though the manual remains a purist favourite. The chassis featured a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension setup that provided a significant leap in handling and composure over its predecessors. Inside, it brought back iconic heritage cues like the 'Interlagos' tartan seats and the flat-bottomed steering wheel.
