About the Dodge Avenger FJ
The Dodge Avenger debuted for 1995 as a replacement for the Daytona, sharing its Diamond-Star Motors (DSM) platform with the Chrysler Sebring and Mitsubishi Galant. While its aggressive front fascia was styled to evoke the flagship Viper, its performance was more grand tourer than sports car, particularly when paired with the mandatory four-speed automatic transmission on V6 models. The 2.5-litre Mitsubishi-sourced V6 provided smooth delivery but lacked the raw power of contemporary rivals like the Ford Probe GT. Today, it is remembered as a stylish, comfortable coupe that prioritised daily usability over track-day performance.
