About the Ford Transit Mk6
The sixth-generation Ford Transit, launched in 2000, represented a major shift for the iconic nameplate by offering both front- and rear-wheel-drive configurations on a single platform. The 2.0 TDCi variant, introduced in 2002, brought high-pressure common-rail diesel technology to the range, significantly improving refinement and mid-range torque over the older DI units. Known for its 'New Edge' styling and surprisingly sharp handling, it won the International Van of the Year award in 2001. While most were worked to exhaustion, well-maintained examples are now appreciated for their historical role in modernising the European light commercial vehicle market.
