About the Porsche Cayenne 92A
The 92A-generation Cayenne S marked a significant evolution for Porsche's SUV, shedding approximately 250kg compared to its predecessor through the extensive use of aluminium and a new active all-wheel-drive system. It retained a naturally aspirated 4.8-litre V8, providing a linear power delivery and a characterful soundtrack that later turbocharged models lacked. The interior was a vast improvement, adopting the 'rising console' design language first seen in the Panamera. While it lost the heavy low-range transfer case of the first generation, its improved on-road agility and efficiency solidified the Cayenne's position as the benchmark for performance SUVs.
