About the Porsche 914
Born from a collaborative effort between Porsche and Volkswagen, the 914 was designed to replace the entry-level 912 and the VW Karmann Ghia. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder model, introduced for the 1973 model year, is widely considered the sweet spot of the range, offering nearly the same torque as the earlier 914/6 but with less weight over the rear axle. Its mid-engine layout and low centre of gravity provide exceptional handling that often outshines the contemporary 911 in tight corners. Long dismissed by purists as a 'VW-Porsche', it has recently gained significant collector status for its pure driving dynamics and unique Targa-topped styling.
