About the Peugeot Boxer Mk1
The first-generation Peugeot Boxer, launched in 1994, was the result of the Sevel joint venture between PSA and Fiat, sharing its platform with the Citroën Relay and Fiat Ducato. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it prioritised aerodynamic efficiency and cabin ergonomics, winning the International Van of the Year award in 1995. The 2.5-litre naturally aspirated diesel engine was a staple of the range, valued for its mechanical simplicity and durability over outright performance. While most were driven to exhaustion as commercial tools, surviving examples are now rare and often found as the basis for early motorhome conversions.

Peugeot Boxer Mk1 fun facts
- The Boxer's drag coefficient was remarkably low for a van of its era, thanks to design work by Italdesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro.
- It was named International Van of the Year in 1995, beating out the newly launched Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
- The 2.5 D engine (DJ5/T9A) was a PSA-sourced unit, unlike some later larger diesels in the range which were supplied by Sofim/Iveco.
