About the Peugeot 106 GTi
Launched in 1996 as the flagship of the facelifted Phase 2 range, the Peugeot 106 GTi is widely regarded as one of the finest-handling front-wheel-drive cars ever produced. It features the high-revving TU5J4 engine, which provides a significant performance boost over the earlier 8-valve XSi and Rallye models. Despite its diminutive size, the GTi offers a sophisticated driving experience with a beautifully balanced chassis and communicative steering that rewards committed driving. As modern hot hatches have grown heavier and more complex, the 106 GTi's sub-tonne kerb weight and mechanical purity have made it a highly sought-after modern classic.
