About the Opel Super 6
Introduced in 1937, the Opel Super 6 was a significant leap forward for the Rüsselsheim brand, replacing the older 2.0-litre model with a more modern and powerful executive offering. It featured Opel's first overhead-valve (OHV) engine, a smooth 2.5-litre straight-six that was shared with the legendary Opel Blitz truck, providing robust reliability and a top speed of 115 km/h. Heavily influenced by General Motors' American design language, it offered a level of refinement and style that rivalled contemporary Mercedes-Benz models at a more accessible price point. Today, it is remembered as the direct predecessor to the Kapitän and a rare survivor of Germany's pre-war automotive boom.
