About the Morris 1300
The Morris 1300 was part of the BMC ADO16 family, a range that dominated British sales charts for nearly a decade. Featuring Alec Issigonis's space-efficient transverse-engine layout and Alex Moulton's innovative Hydrolastic fluid suspension, it offered a level of ride comfort and interior room that shamed much larger cars. The 1.3-litre version, introduced in 1967, provided a necessary performance boost over the original 1100, making it a more capable motorway cruiser. Though millions were built, severe rust issues mean survivors are now relatively rare and highly prized by enthusiasts for their clever engineering and surprisingly modern road manners.
