About the MG ZR
The MG ZR 160 was the performance pinnacle of the ZR range, based on the Rover 25 but heavily re-engineered for a sharper driving experience. It utilised the 1.8-litre K-Series engine with Variable Valve Control (VVC), providing a characterful, high-revving power delivery that suited its firm, lowered suspension. During the early 2000s, it was one of Britain's best-selling hot hatches due to its aggressive styling and competitive insurance groupings. Today, it is becoming a sought-after modern classic as survivors of the K-Series engine's head gasket issues become rarer.
