About the BMW 1 Series F70
The F70 generation marks a significant shift for the 1 Series, officially dropping the 'i' suffix from its petrol models to reserve the prefix for BMW's electric range. Built on an evolved version of the UKL2 front-wheel-drive architecture, the 120 trim features a 48V mild-hybrid system integrated into its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to improve urban efficiency. The exterior adopts a more rounded, minimalist aesthetic, while the interior is dominated by the BMW Curved Display running Operating System 9. Despite the loss of the manual gearbox option, it remains a sharp-handling premium hatchback designed to compete with the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
