About the MG Maestro Turbo
Launched at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show, the MG Maestro Turbo was a limited-production riposte to the 16-valve hot hatch elite. It utilised the 2.0-litre O-Series engine and Garrett T3 turbocharger from the Montego Turbo, shoehorned into the smaller Maestro shell to create a car that could out-accelerate many contemporary supercars. Each of the 505 units was finished by Tickford with a distinctive five-piece body kit, including deep side skirts and unique lattice alloy wheels. While the chassis struggled to contain the torque, its straight-line performance and rarity have made it a highly sought-after cult classic today.
