About the Mazda Tribute
The Mazda Tribute was a pioneer in the compact crossover segment, developed alongside the Ford Escape to offer a more car-like driving experience than traditional body-on-frame SUVs. While it shared its platform and 2.0-litre Zetec-based engine with the Ford, Mazda tuned the suspension for a firmer, more 'zoom-zoom' handling profile. The 2.0 GSI trim served as a mid-range offering in the UK, providing a balance of utility and equipment with a standard four-wheel-drive system. Though not a powerhouse, its independent rear suspension and unibody construction made it one of the better-handling small SUVs of its era.
