About the Lexus GX J120
Introduced for the 2003 model year, the Lexus GX 470 (J120) was based on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform, offering a more compact but equally rugged alternative to the LX 470. It featured a body-on-frame construction and a permanent four-wheel-drive system with a Torsen locking centre differential, making it a genuine off-roader despite its luxury trappings. The 4.7-litre 2UZ-FE V8 provided smooth, linear power, though it was later upgraded with VVT-i in 2005. Collectors value the J120 for its legendary Toyota reliability and its balance of daily-driver comfort with serious trail capability.
