About the Nissan Murano Z50
Launched as Nissan's first crossover for the North American market, the Z50 Murano stood out for its futuristic, sculpture-like styling and car-based unibody platform. It famously shared its VQ35DE V6 engine with the 350Z sports car, though it was retuned for smoother delivery through a pioneering large-capacity CVT. While its handling was surprisingly car-like for the era, it was designed primarily for on-road comfort rather than off-road capability. Today, it is remembered as a design-led pioneer that helped define the modern mid-size crossover segment.
