About the Jeep Cherokee KL
The KL-generation Cherokee marked a radical departure for the nameplate, featuring a polarising 'split-headlight' design and a car-like unibody platform shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. In Europe, the 2.0-litre CRD Multijet II engine was the core offering, paired with a ZF 9-speed automatic transmission that was pioneering for the segment at the time. While it moved towards a more refined, road-biased driving experience, it retained credible off-road capability through the Jeep Active Drive 4WD systems. This generation was the first Jeep to be developed under the full ownership of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
