About the Oldsmobile Bravada
Introduced for the 1991 model year, the Bravada was Oldsmobile's first truck-based vehicle since the 1920s and GM's first serious attempt at a luxury mid-size SUV. Based on the GMT330 platform shared with the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, it distinguished itself with a monochromatic exterior, a unique split grille, and a high-specification interior featuring standard leather and woodgrain trim. Its defining mechanical feature was the 'SmartTrak' all-wheel-drive system, which utilised a BorgWarner transfer case to provide full-time traction without driver intervention. While it lacked a low-range gearbox for serious off-roading, it offered a significantly more refined highway ride than its more utilitarian siblings.
