About the Jaguar XJS
Launched as a successor to the legendary E-Type, the XJ-S (later XJS) prioritised grand touring refinement over raw sports car agility. The 1990 model represents the final year of the pre-facelift 'HE' (High Efficiency) era, featuring the smooth 5.3-litre V12 and the distinctive flying buttress rear pillars. While its styling was initially controversial, it has aged into a respected classic, prized for its effortless high-speed cruising and supple ride quality. By 1990, the model had benefited from years of incremental improvements to its Bosch-Lucas fuel injection and interior luxury.
