About the Hyundai i30 GD
The second-generation Hyundai i30 (GD) was designed at the company's European technical centre in Rüsselsheim, specifically to challenge the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. The 1.6 CRDi SE was a core trim in the UK, offering a balance of 'Fluidic Sculpture' styling and a highly efficient U-II diesel engine. It marked a significant step forward in interior quality and refinement over its predecessor, featuring soft-touch materials and a multi-link rear suspension setup. While not as sharp to drive as a Focus, it gained a strong following for its five-year unlimited mileage warranty and low running costs.
