About the Kia Cerato YD
The second-generation 'YD' Kia Cerato, also known as the Forte or K3 in various markets, was designed under the direction of Peter Schreyer to provide a more European aesthetic. The 1.6-litre Gamma engine variant served as the entry-level powertrain in many international markets, prioritising fuel efficiency and urban drivability over outright performance. It features a significantly improved interior compared to its predecessor, with better soft-touch materials and a driver-centric cockpit. While not a performance car, it gained a reputation for reliability and value, helping Kia compete directly with established Japanese rivals.
