About the Ford Zodiac Mk4
The Mk4 Zodiac represented a radical departure for Ford of Britain, featuring a massive 'aircraft carrier' bonnet and the company's first all-independent rear suspension. Powered by the new 3.0-litre Essex V6, it was designed to offer American-style scale and luxury to the UK executive market. While its handling was initially criticised for being nose-heavy, its distinctive quad-headlight styling and spacious interior gave it significant road presence. Today, it is remembered as the final, purely British big Ford before the arrival of the pan-European Granada.
