About the Ford Torino
The 1970 Ford Torino marked the debut of the second generation, featuring a complete restyle with a longer, lower, and wider 'Coke bottle' profile inspired by supersonic aircraft. While the 429 Cobra Jets grabbed the headlines, the 351 cubic-inch (5.8-litre) Cleveland V8 was the heart of the range, offering a high-revving alternative to traditional big blocks thanks to its canted-valve heads. The 1970 model was highly acclaimed, winning Motor Trend's Car of the Year award for its balance of performance, handling, and style. Collectors prize the 'SportsRoof' fastback body style, which was specifically designed to improve Ford's competitiveness on the high-speed NASCAR ovals.
