About the Ford Lotus Cortina Mk2
The Mk2 Lotus Cortina arrived in 1967, shifting production from Lotus's factory to Ford's own plant at Dagenham. While it retained the legendary 1.6-litre Lotus Twin-Cam engine, the Mk2 was designed to be more reliable and civilised than the fragile Mk1, featuring a more robust suspension setup and a wider choice of colours. It remains a staple of historic touring car racing, celebrated for its balanced handling and the distinctive rasp of its twin Weber or Dell'Orto carburettors. Though heavier than its predecessor, the Mk2's improved build quality and increased cabin space made it a more usable road car.
