About the Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1
The Mk1 Lotus Cortina is a seminal performance saloon born from a collaboration between Ford and Colin Chapman. It features the famous 1.6-litre twin-cam engine and, in early models, a complex A-frame rear suspension setup designed to dominate the British Saloon Car Championship. Recognisable by its Ermine White paint and Sherwood Green side flash, it became a giant-killer on track in the hands of Jim Clark. Collectors prize the Mk1 for its direct link to Lotus's Cheshunt factory and its raw, mechanical driving experience compared to the later Ford-built Mk2.
