About the Fiat Ducato 244
The second-generation Fiat Ducato, specifically the 244 facelift series, solidified its position as a dominant force in the European light commercial vehicle market. The 2.8 i.d.TD (injected direct Turbo Diesel) engine was highly regarded for its mechanical robustness and torque delivery compared to earlier indirect injection units. Developed as part of the Sevel Sud joint venture between FIAT and PSA Group, it shared its architecture with the Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer. Its wide track and front-wheel-drive layout made it exceptionally popular for motorhome manufacturers, a legacy that continues today.
