About the Fiat 60 HP
Introduced in 1904, the Fiat 60 HP was a landmark of early automotive engineering, designed to surpass the Mercedes 60 HP as the ultimate luxury performance vehicle. It featured a massive 10.6-litre T-head four-cylinder engine and was the first Fiat to utilise a pressed steel chassis, offering superior rigidity over contemporary wooden frames. The 'Executive' or high-end touring versions were often bodied by prestigious coachbuilders like Quinby, featuring advanced aluminium bodywork. Its staggering price and 60-horsepower output made it the preserve of emperors and industrial titans, establishing Fiat's early reputation for high-performance excellence.
